The Amex started trading U.S. government securities, Treasury Notes, and Treasury Bonds, in 1973. As of December 31, 1991, 236 corporate and 744 government issues were listed, including U.S. government securities in odd-lot denominations, Treasury Notes (2 to 10 years' maturity), Treasury Bonds (20 years' or more maturity), Treasury Bonds (20 years or more maturity), federal agency securities (Federal Home Loan Banks, Federal National Mortgage Association, Federal Farm Credits, and Federal Land Banks), one-year U.S. Treasury Bills, and three- and six-month Treasury Bills.
