  • Seahawks 2024 NFL Draft Round 1 tracker
    Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Here’s where to follow along for all the updates on the first round of the draft as the Seahawks wait to come on the clock!

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time! You’ve sifted through countless mock drafts, watched hundreds of highlight videos and parsed the measurables of hundreds of draft-eligible prospects, and tonight’s the night it all goes out the window because John Schneider is going to draft someone that leaves you scratching your head.

Fans and observers are curious to see how Schneider handles his first draft as general manager of the Seattle Seahawks without Pete Carroll around, while questions abound regarding how things might change following the overhaul of the coaching staff. What kind of offensive linemen is new o-line coach Scott Huff looking for? Will the Hawks draft a quarterback of the future for Geno Smith to mentor? Will the Seahawks somehow dig up a pair of second round picks so they can add a running back and outside linebacker in the second round for the third year in a row?

As of right now DraftKings sportsbook has the over/unders for Quinyon Mitchell (15.5), Terrion Arnold (15.5), Troy Fautanu (15.5) and Laiatu Latu (16.5) enveloping the pick the Seahawks hold at 16, with Jared Verse (17.5) right there as well.

Round 1 airs live on ESPN, ABC and the NFL Network at 8 PM Eastern/5 PM Pacific, with the Seahawks expected to come on the clock between 10:30 PM and 10:40 PM Eastern/7:30 PM and 7:40 PM Pacific, according to MSN.com. Of course, that could be off by a few minutes, so might as well just tune in to Field Gulls to stay on top of everything that transpires on Day 1.

  • NFL Draft 2024 results: Falcons pull off early surprise, draft Michael Penix Jr

The former Washington Huskies star is heading to the NFC South.

We have our first big surprise of the NFL Draft, and what a surprise it is.

The Atlanta Falcons were on the clock with the eight overall pick and they selected... Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr! Not only is this major vote of confidence in the lefty passer who had a phenomenal season in 2023, but it also comes as a surprise given that he leapfrogged both JJ McCarthy and Bo Nix.

Here is an excerpt from Dane Brugler’s assessment on Penix, who he ranked as the sixth overall QB in this class:

A two-year starter at Washington, Penix was a productive lefty passer in offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s shotgun spread scheme. After four season-ending injuries in his four years at Indiana, he turned himself into a legitimate NFL prospect with the Hu skies, including a memorable 2023 season — led the FBS in passing yards per game (326.9), finished runner-up for the Heisman Trophy (highest finish in school history), led Washington to the national championship game. Asuper-aggressive triggerman, Penix can drive the football with quick game or attack one-on-one matchups down the field. Not only did he throw to NFL -caliber receivers at Washington, but he also benefited from an above-average offensive line, and his effectiveness plummeted when he felt the walls closing in (see the 2023Michigan tape). Overall, Penix is inconsistent in several key areas (mechanics, anticipation, pressure reaction), but his arm confidence and willingness to attack every square inch of the field can be a productive formula in the right situation. His mental toughness will be a strong selling point in NFL draft rooms.

This is obviously very exciting news for Penix and for Falcons fans, but it may come as a bit of a disappointment for those of us who were hoping to see him stay local and go to the Seattle Seahawks. This also spices up the rest of the night with regards to how this impacts the rest of the night. Stay tuned for more!

  • Follow along the 2024 Field Gulls Armchair GM Challenge
    Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

You made your guesses, and now it’s time to follow along and see how many of the Seahawks picks you correctly predicted.

Every year fans take a shot at predicting who the Seattle Seahawks will select in the NFL draft by entering the Field Gulls Armchair GM Challenge, and every year fans submit their entry and then promptly forget who they chose. That, of course, leads to inquiries about whether or not it is possible to see the submissions somewhere so that readers can track their results as the team makes their picks.

Well, you asked, and Field Gulls has answered.

Here are the entries as of the cutoff time for entry of 7 PM New York time.

Depending on how busy things get in the coming days, scoring updates should be available on Friday and Saturday, with final results likely to be published Monday, so keep an eye out for that amid the flurry of post-draft news and analysis.

For those who missed out on entering the Armchair GM Challenge this year, well, better mark your calendar for 7 PM New York time on April 14, 2025 so you don’t miss out again next year.

  • Tyler Lockett set to announce Seahawks draft pick on Friday

Seattle has a third-rounder, the same round in which Lockett was traded.

The NFL has made it a fairly recent tradition to have current and former players walk to the podium and announce picks on Day 2 of the draft. At the moment, the Seattle Seahawks will only have one pick (Round 3, No. 81) on Friday, which is fitting because the player who’s set to announce that selection was taken in that round.

Star wide receiver Tyler Lockett will have the honors when the Seahawks are on the clock on Friday. I should note that even though he’s already a Seahawks legend, he isn’t retired so he does not have the same “legend” distinction.

The Seahawks draft Lockett by trading up in the third round to get the ex-Kansas State star at No. 69. Lockett is 2nd across the board behind the great Steve Largent in Seattle’s all-time record for receptions (612), yards (7,994), and touchdowns (59).

Former Seahawks T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Warren Moon will be announcing draft picks; Houshmandzadeh gets the Cincinnati Bengals, where he played the majority of his career alongside Chad Johnson, while Moon will announce the second-round pick for the Tennessee Titans (formerly the Houston Oilers).

I wonder how that Ric Flair announcement for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is going to go.

  • NFL Draft rumors: Rams looking to trade into top-10
Photo by Keith Birmingham/MediaNews Group/Pasadena Star-News via Getty Images

The Rams are reportedly angling for a big draft day trade.

The Los Angeles Rams are eight years removed from their last first-round selection. Now that they’re finally involved again on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, it looks like they’re looking to take a big swing.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports that the Rams, who are currently No. 19 in the draft order, are angling for a leap into the top-10.

Doesn’t mean that the Rams will get their reported wish, but it’s worth noting on a night when we’re expecting a lot of trade activity. This would (of course) move the Rams ahead of the Seattle Seahawks in the draft order.

With Aaron Donald retired, it’s possible that the Rams are looking at Texas’ Byron Murphy II as his heir apparent. He might be the first defensive player taken and he’s at the very least the consensus best defensive tackle in the class. It’s also possible that the Rams, knowing Cooper Kupp is on the other side of 30 with consecutive injury-hampered seasons, make a move for Washington’s Rome Odunze or LSU’s Malik Nabers... or go for the best receiving tight end in Georgia’s Brock Bowers.

Or.... OR... find the Matthew Stafford successor a little earlier and higher in the draft than expected?

Buckle up! We’re in for a wild ride.

  • Field Gulls predicts what the Seahawks will do with No. 16 in the 2024 NFL Draft

Trade up? Trade down? Stand pat? And then who will the Seahawks draft with their first pick? We make our predictions.

It’s Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. The Seattle Seahawks are slated to pick at No. 16 overall, but it’s far from a guarantee that they’ll stay there. We could see our first trade down from Seattle’s top pick since 2019, and it isn’t far-fetched to think the Seahawks could skip the first-round entirely. A trade-up would be a stunner, and one can only assume they’d do that for a quarterback.

The Field Gulls staff has peered into their respective crystal balls to see what Seattle will do with its first pick. Have a glance!

Mookie Alexander: I want the Seahawks to trade down. I believe they will trade down. If they stay put, they should take Troy Fautanu without hesitation. But I believe they’ll trade down out of the Troy Fautanu and Graham Barton sweepstakes. Michael Penix Jr will be off the board before No. 16, Bo Nix won’t be in consideration, which means they could draft a projected second-round player in the late first. In this scenario, I believe they go for defense (sorry, folks). I’ve predicted defensive lineman Johnny Newton at No. 16 and am tempted to stick with that, but I believe they pull a surprise and take a safety. The options are Tyler Nubin (Minnesota), Jaden Hicks (Washington State), and Javon Bullard (Georgia). Nubin has the best stats and great instincts but didn’t test well in his Pro Day. Hicks looks like a great athlete but might have some bad Marquise Blair-esque traits. Bullard doesn’t have great size but might be the most complete safety of the bunch. I’m going with Javon Bullard in the late 20s or early 30s. He’d be a reach there but that hasn’t stopped the Seahawks before.

Diane Taylor: Stay put and pick Cooper DeJean - DB,Iowa Hawkeyes

Frank T. Raines: I like Diane’s idea, provided that “the plan” is to keep DeJean at cornerback (I’m not wild about moving him to safety). That said, while I agree that Schneider & Co. will stick and pick at No. 16, my money is on them using the pick on Ryan Grubb’s QB, Michael Penix Jr.

Ted Zahn:I know what I'd likethe Seahawks to do, but this supposed to be what I think they’ll do. Schneider will desperately try to find a trade partner while on the clock and No. 16 and eventually settle for a less-than-ideal trade both in terms of how far they move back and what Seattle gets in return. With all the blue-chippers gone, the Seahawks select Missouri DL Darius Robinson...and everyone is mad.

John P. Gilbert:The great Seahawks defenses of the early Pete Carroll era were built, in part, by using a mid-round first to select safety Earl Thomas. The great defense fielded by the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 was built, in part, by using a mid-round first to select safety Kyle Hamilton. I think John Schneider rolls the dice and uses a mid-round first to add Cooper DeJean to the mix in the secondary while tossing another option when it comes to punt returns. That said, I won’t be surprised if Schneider moves back a few picks while doing so in order to add more ammunition for later in the draft.

Tyler Alsin: I’ve never gotten one of these right and neither have you because John Schneider is a madman. Therefore, I believe he’s going to nab Chop Robinson in the 20s.

Only Frank is picking the Seahawks to take Penix, let alone an offensive player. That Robinson pick from Ted makes my skin crawl because of how correct he might be. Seattle generally didn’t overthink the last two drafts, so maybe that trend continues this year. We’ll all find out together!

  • SBNation Reacts Results: Fans expect Seahawks to draft for the trenches
    Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the first draft of the post-Pete Carroll era, and fans expect the Seattle to add guys up front on Day 1.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week we ask questions of the most plugged-inSeattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country.

The long wait is finally over, as NFL teams head to Detroit for the 2024 NFL Draft. Fans have spent months concocting the perfect plan to improve their teams ahead of the 2024 season, and tonight front office personnel from across the league will take to the stage to begin a three-day process of stomping the life out of those hopes and dreams.

Fear not, though, as fans will readily talk themselves into believing the hype and upside of the prospects their favorite team does select in the coming days, and hold onto the belief in potential and upside longer and stronger than is likely warranted in most cases.

With that being the case, the overwhelming majority of Seattle fans expect the team to use its first pick to build in the trenches, though sentiment is split as to whether the trench player selected will be on the offensive or defensive side of the ball.

Of course, one of the big questions is whether Seahawks general manager John Schneider will actually make a pick in the first round, or whether he will trade down in order to add additional picks over the remainder of the draft. The Hawks had traded down almost religiously for years, but have stayed and selected every time they they have come on the clock in the first round since 2020. The players added on Day 1 since then include Jordyn Brooks, Charles Cross, Devon Witherspoon and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Seattle should have no shortage of quality players available at 16 should they decide to make a pick instead of trading down.

Staying and making a selection, however, is not what most fans believe the team will do.

Trading down would allow Schneider and Mike Macdonald to add to their stockpile of picks to replenish the roster, and given fans expect the Hawks to trade down it makes sense that fans expect the team to finish the draft having selected more than seven players.

It’s only a few hours before fans learn what the Seahawks actually opt to do on Day 1, and Field Gulls will work to keep fans up to date on all the news and reactions.

Seattle Seahawks game tickets and schedule

Generally, ticket purchases, selling tickets, and to manage and/or sell season tickets, can be done through the NFL Ticket Exchange that is facilitated by Ticketmaster. Additionally, other viable outlets for ticket sales are available. Additionally, NFL schedule, specific team schedule, and playoff tickets are provided by third party ticket outlets.

Sources to view an NFL live stream

The NFL is different from other major sports leagues in that most of its games are televised not on cable channels but on free over-the-air networks like Fox, CBS, and NBC, although some of these arrangements could be updated from time to time. That said, it could still take some effort to search for good deals offering an NFL live stream suited to a particular budget and might entail using a mobile app over a streaming broadcast for a wide screen television set. While it could prove challenging to find an NFL live stream portal for completely free viewing during an entire season, including playoffs, here are some options that might suit certain needs.
