• Landale sneaky impact

  Hawks split 2025/2026

  With Landale 18 wins, 5 losses

  Without Landale 28 wins, 31 losses.

  This season, Jock Landale’s on-off win splits across two teams are pretty hard to ignore.

  Atlanta were 18 and 5 with Landale, a 78.3% win rate, versus 28 and 31 without him.

  Memphis were 18 and 27 with him, a 40.0% win rate, versus 7 and 30 without him.

  That does not prove he was the sole reason, but when two separate teams were clearly better with him playing this season, it supports the idea that his screening, size, rebounding and low-maintenance offence were genuinely helping winning.

• How important is Kuminga to you

  Not a hawks fan, but was just wondering how much you value Kuminga. Right now, the Knicks are having a historic playoff run and I keep getting reminded of the first 5 games. I noticed the reason the knicks are having such a great run is that they utilized Karl-Anthony Towns properly. Do you think Kuminga shutting down KAT and CJ Mccollums heroics were the reason you guys won? If not, do you think the same thing would've happened if you guys had jock landale?

• I'm coming around on Mara

  Please convince me otherwise if you think I'm off base, but I'm pretty scared of MBJ's back health, and while I really like Flemings' game and character I'm not sure his upside is so impressive (maybe more a solid Mike Conley type than all-star) that you pass on a young shot blocking big with quality passing vision. If Wagler somehow falls, sure, take him, but he probably won't given his size and shooting. Mara's lack of shooting bothers me, as does our PF glut, but I think there might be more alternatives to our guard problem than to our center problem.

  I suppose I feel good about Onsi's decision making regardless, but I was really opposed to Mara at first because I thought more highly of the guard crop's upside but now I'm not so sure.

  Thoughts? Care to reassure me about Brown and Flemings?

• Hawks new uniform design concept

  With news going around the league of teams rebranding (and the team getting a new alternate jersey), i thought i would take a shot at making an Atlanta Hawks uniform concept. i was inspired by the 75th anniversary jerseys that were released back in 2021. the goal of this design was to keep the core brand of the team while incorporating that 90s flare. bringing back the boldness of the bird but still making it sleek enough to feel like a cohesive part of the jersey. i combined the 90s Hawk logo and paired it with today’s modern font style and trim. • Change in Pels/Bucks pick EV and chance to convey

  The NBA approved the new 1-16 lottery today, which directly impacts the Hawks due to the team owning the least favorable of Milwaukee and New Orleans pick next year (top 4 protected). I decided to simulate the old and new lotteries and see how the new system changes things. A few things to note: * Since it’s really early and we don’t know what Milwaukee/New Orleans are going to look like next year, I included every possible combination where they’re both in the lottery. * Blue means the Hawks are better off and red means the Hawks are worse off * The first chart only includes scenarios where the pick conveys, since it’s hard to gauge the EV of the pick if you include outcomes where it doesn’t exist * These numbers are not exact, but they should be close enough to not really make a difference * The data should be symmetrical across the diagonal (since Mil 1 + Pels 2 is the exact same as Mil 2 + Pels 1), but there might be some variance due to randomness.
