Waste Exchanges Directory

One company's waste or unwanted material may be another company's resource. It is estimated that by promoting the reuse and recycling of industrial materials through waste exchanges, the industry currently saves $27 million in raw material and disposal costs and the energy equivalent of more than 100,000 barrels of oil annually. With over 7 billion tons of industrial solid waste generated yearly, and only 6 million tons of waste currently on the exchange, there is a great potential for savings as more companies make use of waste exchanges. Born in 1992, the National Materials Exchange Network is a partnership of industrial waste exchanges, supported in part by Congress and assisted by the Environmental Protection Agency, that increases recycling opportunities within industry. Materials listed on the Exchange include waste by-products, off-spec, overstock, obsolete, and damaged materials, used and virgin, solid and hazardous. Access to the National Materials Exchange Network is free with participation in your local exchange.
