FNAF’s biggest content creator (Dawko) will not be uploading any SOTM VR content until its released on PC due to the current PSVR2 Exclusivity. Embarrassing launch from Steel Wool.
submitted by /u/ZEFAGrimmsAlt to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
Additionally in response to a tweet asking if Steel Wool told him about PSVR2 exclusivity:
“Steel Wool didn't tell me PC, that's my bad, I just assumed it would be because in my head it seemed weird to only release an update on a game exclusively early on PlayStation. They've made trailers before where is says PSVR so l just assumed it was for trailer purposes.”

It's time for a harsh talk about Steel Wool Studios. - A discussion.
submitted by /u/Top_Lingonberry_9852 to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
Before anyone comments, I want to remind you that:
- They are not 'new' to making games anymore, they have been creating games for us since 2019, 7 years ago. They have been making games for us longer than Scott has. (2014 - 2019 compared to 2019 - 2026)
- Every single one is riddled with bugs, unreasonable problems, or unreasonable prices. We let them pass with their first few games because they were 'new' or 'under pressure' but with Five Nights At Freddys - Secret Of The Mimic VR launching on ONLY PSVR2 today, full of bugs, broken textures, and glitches, it's about time the community stands up and says something.
If we do not either force Steel Wool to improve their games or quit making them entirely, we will continue to be given slop after slop after slop, and it'll only get worse from here, Steel Wool Studios has *NO* incentive to make a good, high quality, all-console/device ready, FNAF Game, because there is no consequence to them messing up, people keep letting it slide.
If a chef cooks you a disgusting meal and you tell them it's fine, they'll keep serving you that disgusting meal, it's the same concept here.
If you think I'm being harsh, let's just... list a few of the hundreds of easily preventable bugs, glitches, and problems with every FNAF Steel Wool Studios title:
Help Wanted 1 (2019): Players reported the following (remember this is just a FEW of the many bugs):
- The game crashing when accessing the prize corner or starting a new night
- Vent Repair & Pizza Party having soft locks that prevented people accessing with important items.
- Save Files corrupting and wiping peoples progress
- Foxy getting stuck in the hallway in FNAF 1
- in FNAF 3 sealing the vent may just not stop Springtrap at all
- Jumpscares could occur after 6AM in most games.
But that was their first ever FNAF game, so, let's let them off and go to their second, Security Breach.
FNAF Security Breach: (2021)
SB has had a history of insane bugs, but yknow what? let's list the bugs that are CURRENTLY still in the game, that I have personally experienced almost 5 years later. half a decade. enough time for a freshman in high school to graduate with a bachelor's degree!
- Enemies being able to teleport right behind/in front of you, killing you instantly
- Player clipping through walls or floors and endlessly falling into a void.
- Saving near an enemy causing hardlocks where you need to restart your save.
- Mission objectives failing to update, causing you to be stuck in one segment of the game after beating it.
- Player being unable to enter/exit glamrock freddy.
- Player being stuck in an infinite deathloop if the 'autosave' kicks in at the wrong spot.
- Textures/Objects failing to load in until theyre right in front of you, blocking your path during a chase.
- Vanny seeing Gregory and deciding to T-Pose instead of chase after him for the first 10 seconds of noticing him.
But again, that was their first flat FNAF game, let's... give them the benefit of the doubt, again?... I mean, sure, these bugs still exist after 5 years but they are just an indie studio afterall.
FNAF RUIN (2023):
- The VANNI mask could send Cassie into an infinite void or the sky, forcing a restart.
- Interacting with Arcade machines can cause the game to crash - even on high end PCs.
- Saves during/after the monty golf section can sometimes just not work and force you to repeat that entire section again even once you're well past it.
- Certain parts of the game have models without collision (even to this day) which cause cassie to fall through the floor.
- For livestreamers, opening the Cameras could cause your stream to become unbearably laggy and buggy for anyone trying to watch you play.
- Assets/Textures could just not load.
- Plus minor visual issues like Cassie's hand clipping during the monty jumpscare, and the game overall looking very low quality.
FNAF Help Wanted 2: (2023)
These are bugs that happened on the Quest, as I can only speak for the Quest experience.
- The game was launched without controller keybinds for the Quest, meaning players had to go into their controller settings and individually bind keys for the game to function - for comparison, this would be like having to go into your Minecraft settings on PC and tell the game exactly what each key should do.
- The game would sometimes have you teleported in the air, too high to reach any interactable objects and wouldn't let you lower yourself, the only way to fix this was by uninstalling the game and reinstalling it - and even that was only a 50% fix as it could happen again anytime.
- Ballora Gallery was almost impossible to complete as whenever your head went slightly under the floor you would lose all visibility, making movement/not bumping into ballora extremely difficult.
- Almost every single game had a glitch that would cause you to phase and fall out of the map
- In some games (like Build a Mangle) items needed to progress would sometimes just not spawn in.
- Plus a heck ton of visual and aesthetic bugs that made the game look and run poorly.
Secret Of The Mimic (2025):
- This game was softlock heaven, with the first softlock being the moment you enter Edwins factory the game could just refuse to open the door , forcing a restart and forcing you to watch the entire beginning cutscene again (as there was no skip button!)
- The game can hardlock you during the Goodbye song, this caused me & many others to be unable to complete the hardest ending and waste 10+ hours trying to get secrets/objectives only to be frozen at the end of the game with nothing we can do to fix it.
- The warehouse itself can load as a PNG, which is kinda funny to be honest.
- During the 'DJ Music Man' section you can enter an unbeatable deathloop where the player just dies on repeat until they restart the game (from the very beginning)
- Dropping springlock suit parts near lockers made them inaccessible, forcing restarts.
So, 6 years now, and we're still getting unbeatable softlocks at launch?
and now with SOTM VR, only launching on PSVR2 (this wasn't a deal with sony, either, this was their own choice. The game is actually ready according to Steam files - they're just choosing to delay it and not tell us why.) and even then, launching with gamebreaking bugs (I'm actively seeing clips of people phasing through the floor without trying, textures not loading in, the game build version being from 4 DAYS AGO - meaning they have clearly not QA tested it. etc etc)
I want to remind you all that Steel Wool Studios, as a company, has generated over $83,700,000 in revenue, and their games are buggier, less detailed, less high quality in terms of textures & gameplay, than ANY random fnaf game made by a 21 year old in their parents house with a $20 budget. It's getting ridiculous now.
Do we not remember how Security Breach took so unbelievably long to make that we had FAN GAMES that were essentially just security breach, except made by random people without money? Do we not remember how Security Breach launched with bugged reasonable pricing that meant, in many countries, it was more expensive than the new FIFA & Resident Evil titles? Do we not remember how most people didn't get a refund for the price difference once it was lowered?
As a community, we should not be settling for the low quality, not play tested, slop that we're being given. A lot of us have dedicated over an entire decade to this franchise, and being given half-baked, unfinished, rushed, untested, games, is not a fair 'thank you' from the company making them.
Do not harass Steel Wool, do not threaten them, do not be childish, but do make your voice heard, do not just stand by and let this keep happening, it's not unreasonable as a fanbase for us to demand better communication, better marketing, better quality in the games we spend $40-$50USD (or more depending on your region!) for. It'd be different if these games were cheap, but they're not.
Steel Wool can not charge us the same as CAPCOM does for Resident Evil Village for a broken, buggy, 6-10 hour gameplay mess.
It would be okay if the games were cheaper, it would be okay if the games were low budget because the team wasn't making money, it would be okay if the games had bug fixes that addressed all the game breaking bugs, but they dont, they give us a buggy mess, fix about 70% of it with patch notes, then just move on and make the next game.
I really hope they turn themselves around, but I think it's about time fans start asking Scott to consider making another company the full time mainline FNAF game developer, as Steel Wool is not cutting it, we gave them 7 years to shape up - and it's not worked. It's not okay anymore. They're not new to the scene anymore.
You can love the games, love the characters, but you can't deny that the dedicated fandom deserves better than what we're getting.
If you disagree with me, feel free to debate in the comments, just be respectful and again **DO NOT SEND STEEL WOOL HATE, THIS IS A CRITICISM THREAD NOT A HATE THREAD!**

The worst part is apparently the vr game crashes when you get jumpscared and the actual game doesn’t use the lighting the trailer used

SOTM VR's Build Date was on the 24th of April 2026, meaning, it has had little-to-no QA testing.
submitted by /u/Top_Lingonberry_9852 to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
in non-nerdy talk, this game (in its current state) has existed for four days, regular QA (quality assurance, basically making sure the game is in a good release state) usually takes MONTHS to years, so, considering this batch has only been out for 4 days, it's fair to assume it was not tested at all.
Note: The 24th is a Friday, so assuming they don't work Sat-Sun, that means the game could have only possibly been 'tested' on Monday.
This game, at it's highest possibility, has had this version of it tested for, what, 8 hours? (average shift length). The play test (if they even did one) is shorter than the game itself. This is insane.

I'm seriously dissapointed in FNAF right now.
submitted by /u/WitheredCircle to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
Like. The past years have just been terrible. The quality assurance of this franchise is MISERABLE for a multi-billion dollar franchise. It's obvious neither Scott nor any of the people involved in this series give a crap about anything. From the absolute horror that was FNAF movie 2, to the disgusting subtext of the FNAF 2 novelization, to today's absolutely abhorrent SOTM VR port, I'm genuinely dissapointed. No new books, no new content, it's just a bunch of regurgitated garbage with no actual clarifications of the lore. Scott's just sending us in loops over and over and over again. FNAF: do better. Please.

[Spoilers] The VR Update for Secret of The Mimic is really bad and should've been delayed. Here's the list of changes I noticed for the curious
submitted by /u/GBAura-Recharged to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
I'm mad that I had typed this all out earlier and I lost all of it because I wanted to check if someone got it out before I did, and pressed "back" instead of "new tab". BOO HISS. OK Rant over.
For those who are upset that they can't play the VR update today, then I need to tell you that you dodged a bullet. The VR update made a ton of changes that is baffling and made the game worse in most places. Also, as SWS said that there's a patch for it in the works, and with what I've seen, it's an admission that the update wasn't ready for release. I suggest you stick with flat mode for now, but for those who are curious about the changes:
---
Gameplay Changes:
The Data Diver is always on your side/hip and you have to pull it out manually to use it. You can change it in the settings if you're left or right handed to change what side the device is on.
You have to wind up the toy mouse manually instead of a button press.
In the security upgrade sections and terminals, you press buttons on the machine to move the cursor, or use a turning knob.
You have to psychically kneel down to pick up certain items if you drop them.
You can no longer pet the Vacuum Bots. You still "can", but the petting animation was removed. The bots do stare at you if you're up close to them like in the original.
---
Visual Changes:
The main menu screen is different. You're now outside of the MCM, with rather static main menu inside the van.
Tons of objects and assets are removed in several places, likely for optimization reasons in VR mode.
In the intro, you can "drive" the van as your hands are on the wheel, but the logo that shows up appears in front of the van. You can even lean out to see it.
The entering and exiting springlock animations are removed.
When you get jumpscared, it jumps to a scene like the HW games where you're in a black room. Unlike HW, there's no static or "film burn" transition like those games, you are sent to a black room where there's just a screen showing the film burn animation. It's really awkward.
You know the "screen static" used in the HW games where the player tries to view the game out of bounds? It's here, but it makes less sense as this is a free roaming game. You're not confounded to a single room.
The endings is tweaked in VR mode. It's hard to explain, but you're no longer in a fixed POV, making the Mimic's attack sequence in the bad and neutral look worse.
The autosave icon is placed in a weird spot. Instead of being on the bottom right, it's almost close to the middle.
---
Other:
The FNaF 3 map in the secret area is not corrected, despite SWS saying it was an error.
Glitches:
The Jackie encounter sequence can crash. It happened for one player, but it was fine after a reboot. People says it happens if you adjust the lightening, but it happened to the player I mentioned where they set it on default.
Look at that last image I posted.
There's one that in the neutral ending, there's this glitchy, flashing graphic that covers most of the players vision, which might trigger a seizure.
New Additions:
Sorry. There's no new content to be found. No lore, no gameplay, no nothing.
The Good Stuff:
The chase sequences are delightfully terrifying and intense in VR. You can even look backwards while moving to see the animatronics behind you. It's possible in flat mode, but easier here.
The AI in the White Tiger section seems to be more aggressive and is more prone to popping up, even beside the player.
---
Conclusion:
One VR streamer named "TheCollectorLogan", which I got the photos from called this a "meh" experience. I think it sums it up. This is a disaster, made even worse when you realize that this is the version of the game we almost got.
I might update this post if more information comes out. Right now I'm burned out. Not how bad the update was, but how I had to redo this twice because of my screwup I said earlier.

The major FNAF YouTubers can't even play SOTM VR right now. This is asinine.
submitted by /u/melloman12 to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
Four of the major FNAF YouTubers, possibly even The Big Four, (and more that I likely haven't seen) can't even play VR mode on release and have to wait an indeterminate amount of time so they can stream it/make videos on it. The one marketing lifeline Steel Wool and Scott have begun to rely on can't even promote this release because they can't even play it. Who was this made for? How did this even happen? This is absolutely asinine.
