The creepy horror game, Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF), originally conceived by Scott Cawthon, has now advanced its franchise to offer Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery, a location-based augmented reality game that sends you searching for supplies while animatronics hunt for you or your friends.

To open gameplay with FNAF AR you will need an AR app that comes pre-loaded with your mobile device, or that you can download, on your device. You will need to ensure that you have the right AR environment to play the game on your mobile device. On Android, it is AR Core. On iOS you will need an environment constructed from AR Kit and/or LIDAR scanner. Alternatively, ARToolKit is an open-source and free-to-use SDK available for Augmented Reality development for devices on different platforms. ARToolKit is used for AR apps on Windows, Linux, and OS X in addition to Android and iOS.

FNAF AR gameplay is presented from the first-person perspective with a primary focus on the player's flashlight and controlled shocker (they appear on your AR screen). Combat focuses on finding static (that you see and hear) based on where the animatronic is, and giving them a controlled shock when they charge at the player. The use of the Flashlight will amplify the effects of the static, making tracking easier.

Augmented Reality games have risen in popularity since the release of Pokemon Go. In this release of the FNAF franchise, the game's players find ways to avoid hostile animatronics while collecting supplies to assemble their own animatronics and send them to friends. The map used in this game is one pulled from your mobile device's GPS, and as you move around in the space you are in, so will your marker on the map. Because of this, you will quickly be able to tell what corner to turn to avoid animatronic puppets that slowly creep closer to your position and pop up on your phone as you are gathering supplies.

Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery, a horror-themed location-based mobile augmented reality game that takes the series cast of haunted animatronics out of the dark and decrepit halls of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria and onto an environment of your choosing. During gameplay, players subscribe to Fazbear Entertainment’s brand new “Fazbear Funtime Service” and get their favorite animatronics on-demand. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the visiting animatronics malfunction and attack subscribers instead of entertaining them.

Walkthrough videos have been posted below that can serve as a guide to the game and shed light on its use of AR and your phone's GPS location services to send animatronics after you that make FNAF AR a challenge to play. As this game utilizes Augmented Reality (AR) technology making it more realistic in certain ways than most mobile video games, additional tips and tricks videos are posted here to help convey a greater understanding of how to set up and get the most out of gameplay.
