Mortal Kombat is an American game franchise centered on a series of video games, originally developed by Midway Games and published by Midway Games, Warner Bros. Interactive, and others. The game is graphic in its violence and one aspect for its popularity is thought to be because of the blood (which often splattered across the screen whenever you hit your opponent or when you got hit). The development of the first game was originally based on an idea of making a video game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, but was later switched to a fantasy-themed fighting game. Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game published by (Activision) Blizzard Entertainment. Overwatch players are assembled into two teams of six with the players referred to as "hero shooters." Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. The game features game modes for squad-based combat, casual play, and competitive ranked play. The game is also a popular esport, with Blizzard funding and producing the global Overwatch League.
